Overview

Explore how PACEs can turn adversity into resilience and enhance recovery outcomes in trauma-informed SUD treatment.

Hosted by Bradford Health Services and Freeman Recovery Center, Jill Rathburn, BSN, RN, PMH-BC, CPRC, presents:

Transforming Adversity into Resilience: Applying the PACEs (Protective and Compensatory Experiences) Framework in SUD Treatment

Event Description:

This interactive workshop explores the prevalence and health impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and introduces a potential antidote—Protective and Compensatory Experiences (PACEs)—relevant for both children and adults.

Modeled after the presenter’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Capstone Project, this session provides participants the opportunity to complete two self-assessments—the ACEs-10 and PACEs-10—and engage with a behavioral health intervention tool, the Adult PACEs Plan, which has been shown to enhance resilience.

Grounded in trauma-informed principles, this program emphasizes emotional safety and regulation while equipping behavioral health professionals with practical tools to integrate the PACEs framework into Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment.
