About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours
  • Ages 14+

In this hands-on, experimental workshop, students will discover the creative possibilities of transforming old books into sculptural wall art. This workshop invites participants to explore the intricate world of patterns, shapes, and structures, all crafted from the pages of discarded books.

Students will begin by experimenting with various techniques to manipulate and fold the pages of the books, exploring how simple shapes can evolve into complex designs. Through folding, cutting, twisting, and layering, they will create a wide range of sculptural forms. Once individual elements are crafted, students will learn how to thoughtfully connect and arrange them, resulting in a cohesive and visually striking piece of wall art.

No prior experience in writing or visual art is necessary! Whether you are a budding writer, an aspiring artist, or simply someone looking to try something new, this workshop offers a space for self-expression, imagination, and creative discovery.

Organized by

The Drawing Room is a storefront art studio and gallery, located in both the Mission district at 780 Valencia Street as well as the Inner Richmond at 210 Clement Street. The vision of both spaces is simply to provide exposure for local artists, to gain opportunities for growth and connection.
