This course examines andragogical approaches that support adult learning theory and practice. It will also include discussion of the Group Development Wheel and how to manage the four quadrants for successful trainings. Emphasis will be on understanding professional development needs of trainers to ensure that the Experiential Learning Cycle is incorporated into the training design to enhance the quality of the training. Participants will become familiar with how adults learn in different modalities including an understanding of the two hemispheres of the brain and will gain a foundational understanding of Adult Learning Principles which include the characteristics of adults, what motivates them, what makes training effective and how to increase retention. Tools and training techniques will be shared or demonstrated as part of the training. ** 2 credits are available through ISU for this training.** The class will be held January 23, 2026 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and January 24, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. MST
