Bridging Generations, Building Justice is about bringing people together across generations to spark change. Created by Sandra Barnhill, a lifelong activist, and Alexia Smith, a rising young leader, this initiative puts young voices at the center while honoring the wisdom of experienced organizers. Together, Sandra and Alexia are working to build stronger, fairer communities where everyone, especially those too often left out, has a voice in shaping our future.
This summer, Sandra and Alexia launched Bridging Generations, Building Justice with a survey, Bridge Talks (listening sessions), and an in-person gathering in Atlanta on October 4th. These events are designed to bring together young and seasoned activists to share ideas, build connections, and talk about the issues that matter most to our families and communities.
We want to hear from you! This event is especially for young and emerging leaders who are making change, or who want to get started. Your ideas will help shape upcoming intergenerational conversations inspired by Sandra’s book Tough Mind, Tender Heart: Reflections on a Black Woman’s Activist Journey.
