Tone Curves for Beginners
Overview
I don't use the Texture, Clarity, and Dehaze sliders. I use curves (AKA tone curves).
Curves are one of the most powerful tools you can use, but they are not intuitive like sliders. You need a bit of understanding to use them, and once you do, you can get better results AND take more control over your editing.
This new class will give you knowledge and confidence to start using curves in your editing. My approach will make curves as easy-to-use as sliders, using the editing experience and knowledge you already have.
Built on my thirty years of experience of using curves (and inventing new ways to use them), you’ll find why it is an indispensable tool as you unlock their potential.
Is this class for you? If you are not using curves EVERY time you edit, then the answer is yes. You need this class. I will teach you some simple tools that will help you start using curves immediately in your workflow, and make editing easier and faster
What you'll learn:
- Understanding the basics of tone curves
- Adjusting highlights and shadows
- Creating contrast and dimension
- Using curves for brightness control
- The missing midtone slider
Don't miss this opportunity to level-up your editing game with tone curves!
Can’t attend live? This class is recorded for playback and is available for two months.
This workshop can be applied to any editing application that uses tone curves, including Lightroom and Photoshop. I will use Lightroom Classic for demonstrations during class.
