About this event

Arts • Design

Known for homes built into rocky sites, kinetic devices that open walls and roofs, and even moving architecture that travels via railroad track, Seattle-based architect Tom Kundig creates extraordinary designs that deeply engage with their surroundings. Celebrating the publication of his new book, Tom Kundig: Complete Houses (Monacelli), Kundig joins Rachel Gallaher (Editor-in- Chief for Seattle Magazine) to share the stories behind his one-of-a-kind designs. At this exclusive event, hear from one of today’s most sought-after architects about his renowned houses around the globe, his approach to maintaining constant evolution in design, pivotal lessons learned, and more. The program will be followed by a book signing.
About the Book: Spanning nearly four decades of design, Tom Kundig: Complete Houses presents 462 residential projects together for the first time. This richly illustrated 600-page book is both a comprehensive overview of the architect’s career to date and an intimate, personal exploration, featuring original interviews, portfolios of his hand-drawn sketches, and stunning photography.
