Thank you for your work in creating quality experiences for four year old children in San Mateo County! San Mateo County Office of Education is excited to offer a unique opportunity in partnership with Foothill Community College to sponsor a summer intensive for ECE courses. These ECE courses are designed to support those working in elementary settings prepare to work with four-year-old children in the elementary school setting. This TK Summer Intensive is designed to support aspiring and current Transitional Kindergarten educators with working towards the ECE unit requirement for teaching TK. TK teachers will have priority in being selected to register for this institute.Courses in the Summer Cohort: (18 quarter units)
- CHLD 89 – Curriculum for Early Care & Education Programs
- CHLD 88B – Positive Behavior Management
- CHLD 63N – Artistic and Creative Development
- CHLD 71 – Planning Creative Art Activities for Children
- CHLD 71 – Language & Literacy and the Developing Child
- CHLD 74 – Science and Nature
- CHLD 82 – Planning Creative Dramatics
- CHLD 53NC – Supporting Children with Special Needs in Children's Programs
Course Schedule: course work will be completed online and with in person Saturday Sessions.
- June 16 – June 28, 2025: CHLD 89 and CHLD 88B
- In person session Saturday June 28th at San Mateo County Office of Education
- June 30 – July 12, 2025: CHLD 63N, CHLD 71, and CHLD 71
- In person session Saturday July 12th at San Mateo County Office of Education
- July 14 – July 26, 2025: CHLD 53NC, CHLD 74, and CHLD 82
- In person session Saturday July 26th at San Mateo County Office of Education
Once registration is complete Foothill College will enroll you into the courses which will appear through your Foothill College account. Classes start June 16th online and can be accessed though Foothill College.
**Fee for the TK ECE Summer Intensive is $60, unfortunately Eventbrite charges a service fee of $4.40.
