Webinar Description:
Challenging behaviors in young children can feel overwhelming, but they are often signals of unmet needs and opportunities for growth. In this session, participants will explore why children exhibit certain behaviors and how these connect to their developing social and emotional competencies. Together, we will reflect on the core needs of young children and examine the impact of leaving those needs unmet. Practical strategies will be shared to help participants reframe challenging behaviors, shifting from reactive responses to intentional, supportive interactions that foster learning, connection, and positive development.
Objectives:
The participants will be able to…
1. Describe common childhood behavior challenges and why children exhibit them.
2. Analyze social emotional competencies children can learn to address challenging behaviors.
3. Explain the core needs of young children and the behavioral consequences of not meeting these needs.
4. Identify strategies to reframe challenging behaviors so children respond well instead of react negatively.
