Tiny Museum Concert: Between the borders
Overview
As part of the current exhibition ‘Between Land and Sky, Between Borders, We Meet’ program maker Oudail el Omari (@oudail.mari) and MaMA organize a Tiny Museum Concert with Razeen on Thursday December 18th. Razeen’s performance is a sitdown listening event, an extension of the archive material of Saffa Khalil (@saffakhalil) about the Sudanese identity in relation to the Arab identity within the Western context. He uses music as a tool for protesting, belonging, and becoming. A way of looking at heritage not as something fixed, but as something that shifts, travels, and changes. His music represents the new generation of Sudanese Arabs redefining their identity in the contemporary political landscape.
Razeen (@razeensdn) works between his Sudanese/Afro-Arabic roots and his influences from Western pop culture. Duality is a recurring theme in his music: God and taboos, masculinity and femininity, love and the ego, war and peace. He aims to show the interconnectivity of it all. An artist who cannot be defined.
He is currently finishing his debut album, Yallah Nargus, which is Arabic for “Let’s go dancing.” So join us on the 18th and listen to a mix of his old and new songs.
