What is Tinker Crew

*Please register for Tinker Crew ONLY if you have completed our foundational 3rd-5th Coding Club course. Tinker Crew builds upon the curriculum from that course.

Parents and students both want to know what's next after completing our Coding Club. Tinker Crew provides 12 weeks of student-led sessions that allow learners to dive deeper into their chosen interest of coding topics and practices like programming, robotics, game design, and more.

For a one-time fee, students will gain access to the Tinker Crew for the entire semester and receive a t-shirt to wear on Tuesdays when the Crew is in session!

What Students Learn

Tinker Crew is more exploratory than our individual classes and clubs as students are given more space to ask questions and try new things. Students are encouraged to make unique learning choices while developing their computer science and programming skills.

What Parents Gain

We all want our kids to find their passion or engage in activities that stimulate their love of learning. Parents will see their children learn problem-solving techniques, foster a drive to try something new, and gain knowledge about coding and technology that can assist them in the future.

Schedule

We'll meet weekly on Tuedays from 7:00-8:00 p.m. during the semester.

Our 12 sessions will run from August 19th to November 11th. If needed, November 18th will be used as a makeup date. There will be a break based on local school schedules. *Class will NOT meet on Ocotber 7th!

Mission Statement

To teach coding and computer science to children, K-12, and introduce them to new ways to problem solve and explore curiosity and creativity.

What We Do

We are creating a generation of problem solvers and innovators through coding and computer science principles.

The Approach

  • Embrace mistakes: Evidence suggests during initial learning students retain more information if they’re given the freedom to make mistakes. Encourage them to learn and grow in confidence through mistakes as they seek an answer.
  • Enjoy learning: Learning and problem solving can be fun through creative activities like coding and game design.
  • Explore computer science: Computer science is a powerful medium in which students can express themselves to solve challenges in unique ways to enhance their creativity and problem.
