Learn to capture the human face using fundamental techniques and concepts using graphite and charcoal.
We'll cover everything from basic structure and proportions to features and expressions. Whether you're a beginner or looking to hone your skills, this class will provide you with the tools and guidance to enhance your portrait drawing abilities.
In this class, you will learn:
- How to break down the human head by using simple proportions and structure
- Develop better observational skills in order capture the likeness of the subject
- Various techniques such as shading, highlighting, and texturing to add depth and realism.
- How to accurately draw individual facial features and their relationship to one another.
Students will walk away with a finished drawing and a better understanding of how to render faces.
This is a studio class and students will be using their supplies on the first week.
Supply List for Students to Bring:
- Drawing paper pad (no smaller than 11x14 inches)
- Erasers (kneaded & white vinyl)
- Blenders and stumps
- Graphite pencils (hard & soft)
- Charcoal pencils (hard & soft)
- Ruler
