THU AM - Abstract Landscapes: Level 3 with Shelly

Explore the fundamentals of abstraction through the lens of landscape painting and learn to get loose with the help of sketching, reference photos, and abstraction techniques!

Together, we’ll discover how to marry abstract language with landscape painting through various drawing and painting exercises, followed by some “open studio time” where you can further experiment and explore in a more involved artwork, applying what we’ve learned.

Students will walk away with a beautiful painting on a medium to large canvas.

This is a studio class and students will be using their supplies on the first week.

Supply List for Students to Bring on Week 1:

• bring all your painting supplies
• various drawing materials, whatever you have
• fiber paste or heavy gel medium for texture
• glaze medium
• color shapers and/or silicone tools
• palette knives (large or small, any shape)
• 2 medium canvases (24" square is ideal)
• rags or Blue Shop Towels
