About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

Did you know that the intricate motifs embroidered onto Nakshi Kantha tell stories of love, nature, and everyday life? What story would you create with these stitches?

This workshop introduces participants to the rich heritage of Nakshi Kantha embroidery and Bengali folklore. Through storytelling and creative exercises, attendees will explore embroidered motifs, learn their meanings, and create their own original designs.

This is a session designed for storytellers (also educators, artists, and performers) to discover how Nakshi Kantha storytelling can be incorporated into their practice.

  • Learn how Nakshi Kantha storytelling can be integrated into performance and teaching.
  • Explore the role of textile-based storytelling in preserving oral traditions.
  • Develop new ways to engage audiences through visual and tactile storytelling prompts.
