This is Not Going to Be Pretty: Brian Collins '82 on the Future of Design
Event Information
Description
Brian Collins '82 and his team built a seven story toy shop in Shanghai, he got drunk in the Alps with Jane Goodall, built a fantasy candy factory for Hershey's in Times Square, launched a climate change campaign with Al Gore, designed a book with Paul Rand, walked away from a job with Steve Jobs, produced a groundbreaking interactive music video for Azealia Banks, opened a design company in New York (with a new branch office in San Francisco), was named an American "Master of Design" by Fast Company, was the first graphic designer who participated in the World Economic Forum in Davos, launched "M" the virtual assistant for Facebook, and produced the new design program for Spotify that DesignWeek said, "defined design in 2015."
For his talk at MassArt, Brian will explain the risks involved in all of the above, and show how embracing failures, disasters, mistakes, and rejections can make all the difference in the world. And, no. It will not be pretty.
Event Co-sponsored by MassArt, The Ad Club, AIGA Boston, Design Management Institute, and Design Museum Boston.
