This presentation will focus on autism "masking." "They seem fine in school." A common phrase made by parents of high masking autistic children. The world isn't set up for autistic brains. Overtime autistic children learn to "mask." They need caregivers and school staff who understand and collaborate to support them.
Ashley Johnson M.S. is a neurodivergent DA writer and Outpatient Therapist, at Fernbrook. She received her MS in Counseling (2021) from Longwood University and has received awards in research and advocacy. Ashley was a care navigator and community health strategist for the VA. Ashley’s clinical interests include exploring autistic identity, neurodiversity, intersecting identities, and neurodivergent trauma.
