About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Don’t throw out that jam jar! You are invited to Urban Growers Collective for a fun and informative class that explores the practices of traditional herbal medicine making. In this class we will make a tincture from herbs growing in the garden. This class will begin with an exploration of the herb garden where we will meet the herbs that we will use.  After discussing the personality (the healing applications) and reputation (folklore and traditional usage) of some of those herbs, we will make one alcohol based tincture and vinegar based tincture. All materials will be provided.

A ticket for the workshop is $100; we. are offering a reduced cost ticket of $25 in exchange for 3 workshare hours at our South Chicago farm. Workshare hours need to be completed a week in advance of the workshop date in order for the reduced cost to be honored. If they are not completed, the ticket holder will be charged the additional $75 upon arrival to the workshop
