Background: The Thielke Arboretum of Glen Rock is a 16-acre oasis containing diverse, natural forest types and planted specimen trees which encompass a tree and woody plant collection of over 250 species. On the grounds is a newly installed native witch hazel-Atlantic white cedar allee leading to an antique gazebo, a nature play area for young children, perennial pollinator and fern gardens, and a spring fed pond that is annually stocked with fish. The Arboretum is a local sanctuary for native flora and fauna conservation; the indigenous plants provide habitat for beneficial insects, butterflies, majestic birds, turtles, and more. There are over a mile of trails connecting the various sections of the Arboretum that provide a serene walk with family, kids, or pets, or even a therapeutic experience for forest bathing or exploring local nature.
Project Description: Volunteers will help the arboretum by pulling invasive plants.
Attendees must wear long pants and work boots, and bring work gloves.
