Join Dr. John Mills in this workshop to explore the theoretical, practical, relational and professional dimensions of clinical supervision.

About this event

This Zoom workshop will use lecture, discussion, and demonstration to describe major approaches to supervisory intervention, practical techniques for supervision, the significance of the person of the supervisor and supervisee, and professional issues that are unique to supervision and are significant to the process and outcome of supervision.

Objectives:

1. Participants will articulate the major approaches to supervision.

2. Participants will analyze and apply specific methods of supervision.

3. Participants will identify specific areas in which the conditions of the supervisory relationship are critical to supervisory outcomes.

4. Participants will apply concepts of professional practice unique to supervisory dilemmas, including multiculturism and inclusivity.

3 CEs available to NYS LMHCs, LMFTs, LCSWs, LMSWs, and NYS Licensed Psychologists provided by Hudson Valley Professional Development, LLC upon successful completion of training.

Dr. Mills, Ph.D., ABPP earned his Ph.D. at SUNY-Buffalo and is a psychologist licensed in Pennsylvania, New York, and formerly in Delaware. He has been on the faculty of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania for more than 34 years and teaches at the undergraduate level as well as in an APA-Accredited Psy.D. program in Clinical Psychology. He has served for more than two decades on the Ethics Committee of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association, holds a training certificate from the Pittsburgh Psychoanalytic Institute, and has completed two graduate degrees in fields outside but related to Psychology. He has presented and published about supervision and ethics and is Board Certified by the American Board of Counseling Psychology. He has worked in the private practice of psychotherapy and consultation since 1989.
