The Yoga of Allowing Life: Philosophy & Deep Rest Asana Practice
Overview
Amidst the rush of the holidays and the stillness of winter, gift yourself three hours to breathe, reflect, and rest.
Yoga, through its philosophy and asana, offers us tools to allow - to meet life, its joys and pains alike, with presence.
In this gentle, somatic, reflective workshop, we’ll explore a central yogic insight: suffering is part of life, but our resistance to it multiplies the pain.
Through a guided, digestible and actionable philosophy session, we’ll explore yogic teachings including the kleshas (sources of suffering) - gaining language to articulate what we often feel and wisdom to help navigate it with compassion.
We’ll then move into a Deep Rest practice, a yin-inspired restorative sequence of long-held, supported postures with gentle somatic elements woven throughout, inviting the body to soften, the mind to quieten, and the whole being to become receptive - allowing the wisdom of yoga to be embodied and felt, not just understood.
We’ll close with journaling in a sangha circle, practicing reflection and compassionate, non-judgmental listening - weaving together insight and experience so the teachings can be carried gently into daily life.
You’ll leave feeling grounded, deeply rested, and with a sense of ease and embodied wisdom to guide you through winter’s stillness, the rhythm of the holidays, and beyond.
