About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

On Thursday, June 12th at 7pm EST, join author and literary agent Jessica Berg for The Writer’s Next Step: From Creation to Submission, a virtual workshop on publishing your work. This workshop is open to all who served in the military, their families, and caregivers.

You’ve written the piece—now what? This workshop gives military-affiliated writers the exact tools to move from finished draft to confident submission, whether you're aiming for journals, contests, or you're ready to query an agent. If you're ready to stop sitting on your work and start sharing it with the world, this is your next step.

This workshop will be recorded and a link will be e-mailed to all ticket holders once the recording is available.*

*Recording will only contain workshop lessons. All other participant video will be edited for user privacy. Only registered participants will have access to the recorded workshop.

Jessica Berg is a literary agent, author, and the founder of Rosecliff Literary, a boutique agency dedicated to stories that demand to be remembered. She specializes in high-concept, emotionally resonant fiction and nonfiction. Her taste leans toward the urgent and the timeless: untold histories, queer love stories, women who were underestimated, and characters who carry their wounds like armor.

Jessica’s editorial style is collaborative, intuitive, and fiercely protective of author voice. She doesn’t believe in hand-holding, but she does believe in walking beside a writer through the hard parts—revision spirals, rejection seasons, the impossible middle. She knows what it means to survive your own story because she’s done it, too.

A multi-nominated writer with an MFA from Spalding University, Jessica is a member of AALA and EFA. She’s represented by Amy Collins at Talcott Notch and frequently provides craft insight for Writer’s Digest. She also teaches regularly at national writing conferences, where she’s known for her no-fluff, high-impact workshops that help writers level up their craft and career. Whether she’s shaping a submission strategy or writing her own tangled novels, Jessica is always chasing stories that make you feel something sharp in your chest and still want to come back for more.
