WHAT IS A VERTICAL RACE?
A Vertical Race is an uphill-only ski mountaineering competition focused entirely on the climb. Using climbing skins on your skis or splitboard, you’ll skin from the base to the top on a marked route — no downhill timing, just a pure test of your uphill strength and endurance. It’s a fun and welcoming event for everyone from competitive racers to recreational ski tourers looking for a new challenge. This event is part of the Whitefish Whiteout and USSMA National Cup Series.
