Join us for an extraordinary concert celebrating the 200th anniversary of “The Waltz King” Johann Strauss II with new works, written especially for that occasion by Austrian composers Dennis Brandner, Bernhard Eder, Franz Hackl, Max Pollak, Clemens Rofner and Marina Vesic as well as U.S. Composers Gene Pritsker, Dan Cooper, Jane Getter and Eugene W. McBride.

About the Concert

Composers Concordance presents its CompCord Ensemble, consisting of Franz Hackl on trumpet, Dennis Brandner on saxophone, Jane Getter and Gene Pritsker on guitar as well as Max Pollak on percussion, who will also perform tap dance! Composers Concordance, founded in 1984 by Joseph Pehrson and Patrick Hardish, advised by Otto Luening, strives to present contemporary music in innovative ways, with an emphasis on thematic programming. Directors Gene Pritsker and Dan Cooper co-curate the programs and lead the CompCord Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, String Orchestra, and Big Band. Associate Directors are Milica Paranosic, Peter Jarvis, Debra Kaye, and Seth Boustead. Composers Concordance has also created a Naxos-distributed record label: Composers Concordance Records. Composers Concordance’s overriding vision is to promote contemporary music, composers, and new works as a rightful and respected part of society. Good music performed and recorded well, pushing the boundaries of sound and composition.

ACFNY LATECOMER AND RSVP POLICY

It is of great importance to us that everyone can enjoy our events uninterruptedly. As a courtesy to our artists and our audience, please be so kind and be on time. We can only accept late arrivals to a minimum extent. Since our events are for free and we only have limited capacity in our theater, RSVPing does not guarantee entry. If you can no longer attend a free event, please cancel your reservation through Eventbrite online. Unclaimed reserved seats by 6:30 PM will be given to those on the waiting list. When we have reached the capacity of our theater, we will close our doors. In case there are still seats available after 6:30 PM, we will let people into the theater after the first applause. After that, we will close our doors for the evening. Furthermore, we reserve the right to cancel individual tickets at short notice. Priority will be given to guests visiting the ACFNY for the first time. And large bags, backpacks, and similar items must be checked in and cannot be brought into the theater.
