Description

Indiana Landmarks invites you to hear Donovan Rypkema on “The Value and Values of Preservation.”

Rypkema, principal of PlaceEconomics, a Washington, DC-based firm nationally known for its analysis of the impacts of historic preservation.

“Property values, economic values, cultural values, business values. We’re learning and documenting more each year about the multiple ways historic buildings and neighborhoods add value to a city,” Rypkema notes. Indiana Landmarks hired PlaceEconomics to analyze the economic contributions of historic preservation to the City of Indianapolis. Rypkema, will offer a sneak preview of his firm’s findings. The study will be available early in 2018.

Rypkema’s firm has produced studies for 30 years on the predicted impact of tax credits and other revitalization and development incentives, as well as the actual economic impact of such incentives, local designation, rightsizing, and sustainable development. His broad historical perspective, paired with his synthesis of detailed statistical analysis and his dynamic presentation style, make him a riveting speaker.

Doors open with a cash bar at 5:30 p.m., followed by Rypkema’s talk and Q&A, 6-7:00 p.m.
