The Unapologetically BLACK Slam!
Overview
In celebration of Black History Month, The Unapologetically BLACK Poetry Slam takes place on February 7, 2026—an electrifying night where bold voices, raw truth, and unapologetic Black expression take center stage. This high-energy showcase brings together emerging and established poets to deliver powerful, soul-stirring performances that honor the legacy, resilience, and brilliance of the Black experience.
From spoken word infused with rhythm and resistance to lyrical storytelling rooted in joy, struggle, love, and liberation, each poet commands the mic with intention. The slam creates a brave, affirming space where artistry becomes activism and every verse carries the weight of history and the fire of possibility. Poets will compete for CASH prizes of $250, $100 and $50.
Audience members can expect an unforgettable evening of community, creativity, and cultural pride. More than a competition, The Unapologetically BLACK Poetry Slam is a celebration of identity, a tribute to the ancestors, and a vibrant reminder of the enduring power of Black voices to inform, inspire, and ignite change.
