The Story Solution: How Rewriting Your Personal Narratives Can Change The Course Of Your Life
How do stories shape our understanding of ourselves? Is it possible to use storytelling techniques to challenge those accepted truths and bring about positive transformation?
Join author and educator Carly Schwartz for an interactive afternoon of connection and exploration. In this two-hour session, you’ll identify stories that no longer serve you, find narrative threads that shift your understanding of yourself, and use that new perspective to think about how to make meaningful changes in your life.
Inspired by narrative therapy philosophies and techniques, this workshop includes guided free-writing exercises and opportunities to share and reflect in a safe container. Please bring a pen, paper, and an openness to explore your inner world and your perception of yourself.
About Carly:
Carly Schwartz is an author, former journalist, and founder of the Mindwriters Collective, a workshop series that uses storytelling techniques to transform people's understanding of themselves. During her career as a journalist and newsroom leader, she was editor-in-chief of the San Francisco Examiner, founding editor of HuffPost's SF bureau, and founder of several media ventures, including a feminist magazine, a jungle journalism school, and a platform she affectionately describes as Google's "school newspaper."
Storytelling has played an important role in her own journey recovering from depression and addiction, and she's served as a spokesperson for the JED Foundation and Google's Recovery Month. She received her narrative therapy certification from the Evanston Family Therapy Center, and uses those philosophies and frameworks to inspire her workshops and facilitation. Her debut memoir, I'll Try Anything Twice, will be published in March 2026 by the Stable Book Group.
