The Stitch Archive Open Access Day
Overview
Sessions begin with an introductory talk from the Archive Curators, two designers with many years experience working within the luxury fashion industry.
You are then free to explore the full archive, to handle, photograph and sketch samples, swatches and clothing. Our collection is made up largely of knitted or embroidered swatches and garments. Contemporary, luxury, design, vintage, hand made, and industrial processes.
You will be supported throughout this process by the Curators who will be on hand to discuss and explain how the pieces were made, and in what context, as well as giving an insight into working in "The Industry".
You will take away a greater understanding of what it is like to be a Textile Designer in the Fashion Industry, as well having found inspiration and a greater understanding of materials, techniques and applications.
The Stitch Archive caters to anyone with an interest in textiles, craft and fashion.
