Event description
Virtual Screening of The Soul of a Cyclist and Q&A with Director Nuno Tavares

About this event

You are invited to Fresno County Bicycle Coalition's 2nd Annual May is Bike Month Movie Event!

If you have ever dreamed of traveling the world by bicycle, this is the film for you.

This year we are excited to be screening:

The Soul of a Cyclist - An award-winning documentary that celebrates how bicycling brings people together, inspires joy, builds vibrant communities, and leads to a happier, more fulfilled life. (Bicycles are amazing!)

Enjoy a picturesque journey from the rolling hills of Lisbon, Portugal to the tweed filled streets of London, England. Meet charmingly quirky people who share a love of bicycles and bicycling. Gain insight through the stories shared by an eclectic group that includes a photographer, a bicycle mechanic, a penny farthing adventurer, the CEO of Pashley Cycles, and many more. 73 minutes. English subtitles.

Nuno Tavares, director and filmmaker, will be joining us via Zoom from Portugal for Q & A. We are thrilled because it is an 8 hour difference between Portugal and California.

Get everything you need to participate in this fun virtual community event in three easy steps.

Step 1: Register

Tickets are $5 (but you are welcome donate more). There is also a free option, no one is turned away for lack of funds. Registering will put you on the list to receive the email with the links to watch the film and join the Q & A event with the filmmaker. Proceeds from the movie screening will help the Fresno County Bicycle Coalition host more community events in the future.

Step 2: Watch the Movie

The Friday before the Q & A event, we will send you an email with a link that will give you access to the movie for 36 hours. You will be able to watch the film whenever is most convenient for you. The film is 73 minutes. Grab some snacks and get comfy. Be sure to watch the film before the Q & A event with the filmmaker because the link to the film will expire.

Step 3: Join the Q & A with Nuno Tavares

In the same email with the link to watch the film, there will be a second link for the Q & A event with the filmmaker. You will use this second link to join us on May 22 at 3:00 pm (Pacific Time) for the live-stream Zoom discussion with the filmmaker. Mark your calendars!

Nuno Tavares, born in the Azores, Portugal, was an Electrotechnical Engineer in Portuguese telecommunication companies. In January 2019, he decided to forge a new career path with a focus in cinema, arts, and sustainability.
