The Simple Truth

It is said that when the Buddha achieved enlightenment he naturally wished to share it with others but hesitated. He thought, "The truth is so simple, no one will believe me. I'll just remain here in the forest." But then, requested to turn the wheel of the sacred dharma, he decided he would indeed teach, and spent the rest of his long life showing many others the path to enlightenment.

The many schools of Buddhism have since developed a vast body of teachings, texts and commentaries based on the Buddha’s original words. One could spend a lifetime studying the principles at the heart of Buddhist philosophy. Yet, all the schools agree that the core of Buddhism is really quite simple and something that needs to be experienced directly. This teaching from Lama Lakshey Zangpo is both fitting instruction for those unfamiliar with Buddhism, as well insightful for those who are experienced Buddhist practitioners.
