Description

Maker spaces and community do-it-yourself biology (DIYbio) labs have been opening up across the country in recent years. Both harness an interest in learning and working in non-academic settings. But how can these spaces work together? What is the potential for collaboration? How can schools utilize these space as part of their academic programs?

Please join us on Nov. 12, 2015 at 6 pm at FabLab DC for an event looking at the growth of the DIYbio and maker movements. The event will feature a screening of the short documentary The Rise of Do-It-Yourself Biology: A Look at the Baltimore Underground Science Space and a panel discussion featuring those running maker spaces and DIYbio labs in Maryland, Virginia and the District, as well as teachers and students using these facilities. Refreshments will be served.

Fab Lab DC is located at 1418 North Capitol Street NW in Washington, DC. A map is available here.
