Thursday, November 20th | The Zula Den (West Adams)

As we prep for our first holiday break (off on Thanks Giving) We had a vision:

People coming together in song, that becomes prayer, that becomes a reality in the new year...

This Thurday: The Residency will host not 1, or 2, but 4! breath taking vocalists, each with their own uniqueness, flavor & special touch, coming together for the first time, forming an improvised choir of sorts, in harmony and connection.

Who are they?

KJ Song 🎤

A Queer music minister, voice ritualist, and reverend in formation, KJ helps people remember that their voice is holy, true, alive, and theirs. Through Sing Praise! and communal song ritual, they turn rooms into living prayer and invite collective release and belonging.

whatever mike 🎤

Queer artist crafting “Hope Pop” grounded in honesty, healing, and spiritual grit. Formerly Michael Blume, their work embraces becoming and renewal, songs that move bodies while opening hearts.

Archana 🎤

Indo-American singer-producer blending 20 years of Carnatic training with early-2000s R&B/pop sparkle. Her music explores queer desire with fearless vocal agility and lush, beat-driven arrangements built for heat and heart.

Anilee List 🎤

Anilee List is a unique and well-rounded vocal storyteller, avid creator, and passionate collaborator. A powerhouse voice with a tender heart, Anilee's artistry explores the complexity of the human experience and how the journey back to self can be the ultimate connector.

ITAI 🎷

Saxophonist and live-electronic artist; founder of The Residency. Blending Middle Eastern roots, jazz improvisation, and groove-forward electronics, he guides face-to-face, one-night-only collaborations into real-time Sound Connections.

The Story of The Residency:

From ITAI: "This new season of The Residency is about intimacy and presence. Most weeks, we’ll feature one very special guest artist, sitting across from me as we create the soundtrack for the night from scratch.

A concept I like calling "Swanning": Like two swans facing each other in a moment of deep connection, this allows us to share and respond, creating something raw, alive, and unrepeatable. In this foramt, the audience surround the face-to-face artists which forms a circle that make everyone part of the experience. Step into the cirlce (:

More About The Residency:

As a touring musician, I’ve had the privilege of performing on some of the most celebrated stages in the world, experiencing unforgettable moments of elevation and catharsis.

Yet, something was still missing: the ability to build an ongoing relationship with an audience – a connection that evolves, deepens, and resonates over time.

That’s why I created The Residency. The Residency is a home for artists and audiences alike, blurring the lines between them and forming long lasting & Sound Connections.

It’s a sanctuary for creativity and collaboration, building bridges between electronic and live music, between exceptional artists and passionate music connoisseurs, and, most importantly, between each of us and ourselves.

It’s where sound resonates in the relationships we build and the experiences we share. With new and exciting musical guests each week,

Each night is a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration, improvised and never repeated. With intimacy at the center, The Residency invites you to gather, listen, move, and connect in a way that feels as timeless as it does alive.

We are excited to see you there
