Description

The Relevance of Julius Caesar Today: A Book Launch for The Landmark Julius Caesar.

Please join us at NYU on Wednesday, February 7 from 6pm to 7:30pm for an evening of time travel, innovation (in the non-tech world), and great conversation.

Our good friends at NYU’s Center for Ancient Studies are joining us in celebrating a fabulous, and disruptive, new edition of some of the most important writings in the Western tradition — the memoirs of Julius Caesar.

This December, after a decade of work by top Caesar scholars in the world, The Landmark Julius Caesar brought us new translations and a revolution in accessibility of the overall text: hundreds of maps, margin summaries, brief appendices, and other reader-centric innovations.

Why should you attend?

- Great evening of learning and networking
NYU and the Reading Odyssey would like to invite you to join leaders from New York and scholars from the academic community for a great evening.

- Distant Mirror
Caesar invented populism, and with it took over the Roman Republic. The fall of the Roman Republic to Caesar thus acts as an instructive distant mirror to our own time.

- Story of innovation and product development
The mostly untold story of the Landmark series of books is also one of the best non-technology product development /innovation stories out there. The Landmark series has disrupted the publishing world by transforming and supplementing important ancient texts, making them far more accessible to a modern audience (and, as a result, selling millions of copies changing the whole industry's assumptions about the market and the reader experience).

The reception is sponsored by:

The Reading Odyssey, a non-profit dedicated to igniting curiosity and re-engaging lifelong learning.
