Culture Vannin is pleased to team up with the Mananan Festival to offer a free event with Cornish creative powerhouse, Seamas Carey, exploring his process and techniques for generating, developing and delivering some of Cornwall’s most successful and thought-provoking creative projects.

How can Seamas’s exciting and often humorous creative work in Cornwall inspire new projects and developments in the Isle of Man? - This event for a selected audience will inspire us all in new ways that feed into what we do.

This event will take place before the day before Seamas' appearance at the Mananan Festival with Help! I Think I’m A Nationalist. (The ability to book for the event in St Catherine's Hall is also open to those with tickets to the Erin Arts Centre event).

Seamas Carey is best known for the podcast series The Reason Why, a humorous and thought-provoking exploration of the social issues and culture wars of contemporary Cornwall. This gave rise to his one-man, controversial sell-out comedy show, Help! I Think I’m A Nationalist, which has toured around the UK and is to be performed in the Erin Arts Centre on Wednesday 26th June as a part of the Mananan International Festival.

Other work by Seamas Carey includes; Pagan Pandemonium, I Wish I Was A Standing Stone and Seamas Carey Meets His 4 Year Old Self, as well as founding and conducting Cornwall’s first alternative male voice choir, Men Are Singing. In addition to this, he has worked for ten years as a composer, performer, choir leader, musical director, puppeteer, silent film pianist and piano tuner. He has performed at Shakespeare’s Globe, London’s West End and toured throughout the world with theatre productions by Wildworks, Kneehigh and Sally Cookson.
