The Queer Artist's Way - 12 Weeks to Unblocking Creativity
Overview
Together we will connect on Zoom over the course of 13 Wednesdays to go through each of the chapters of Julia Cameron’s iconic guide for boosting creativityThe Artist’s Way -- all through a queer lens.
Using Cameron’s suggested tools as a framework, including morning pages, artist dates, and writing prompts, we will meet once a week for 12 weeks, plus an introductory week, as a group to go through our “assignments” and share the ways we are blocked or becoming unblocked from creative challenges in our artistic practices, and life beyond the studio - centering LGBTQ+ perspectives - but everyone is welcome. No one needs to prove their identity, you belong :)
Class time will be used to share what we have learned, any creative progress we have made, and to offer an assigned time to do writing prompts and break-out sessions.
Students are asked to familiarize themselves with The Artist’s Way before the first class, but we will have material outside of Cameron’s curriculum. The instructor will provide additional prompts, and questions for discussion by email before each class.
