THE POWER OF SAYING NO. HOW TO SET HEALTHY BOUNDARIES
Overview
Setting healthy boundaries is not just an act of self-care - it’s a powerful neurological process. When we establish and uphold our boundaries, the brain releases dopamine, the neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and reward. This strengthens neural pathways in the prefrontal cortex - the brain’s “CEO” - enhancing our capacity for emotional regulation, resilience and clear decision-making.
Interestingly, the act of saying “No” can activate the brain’s reward system, reinforcing self-trust and boosting self-esteem over time. In contrast, when our boundaries are violated, the amygdala - our brain’s threat detector, triggers a stress response, flooding the body with cortisol and undermining our sense of safety and autonomy.
In this workshop, we will guide you through a series of experiential practices informed by neuroscience, bioenergetics and Kundalini yoga. These techniques are designed to help you explore and deepen your relationship with your physical, emotional, sexual and spiritual boundaries. Through embodied awareness, you will learn to attune more clearly to your felt sense - discovering where your authentic No and true Yes genuinely reside.
