About this event

Join the Online News Association for a workshop on how to make your hiring practices more equitable and effective in 2022.

The “pipeline problem” has always been an excuse for organizations who haven't developed strong, diverse candidate pools. It’s time to hold up the mirror and examine the journalism industry's hiring practices through the lens of inclusivity, diversity and belonging.

In this session, Media Bridge Partners' Hannah Wise and John Davidow will lead us as we collectively unpack this non-existent problem. Together, we will build a toolkit to help you and your organization name these imaginary obstacles and come up with simple steps to overcome them.

Lastly, we’ll harness the collective wisdom of session attendees to come up with an anti-racist "hiring dos and don'ts" list to bring back to our newsrooms.

This event will be participatory — not a webinar — so expect to have the chance to contribute to the conversation throughout the time we’re together.

Where will the meetup take place?

This event will be hosted on Zoom. For this particular event, you’ll have the best experience if you join via the Zoom app on a computer or mobile device, but you can also join by phone if needed.

Do I have to be an ONA member to attend this meetup?

No, there's no membership requirement. Please feel free to share with others in your network, too.

Will closed captioning be available?

We will make closed captioning available. Please let us know at registration if this would help you participate so that we can ensure it’s available in breakout rooms as well.
