On behalf of Forman Arts Initiative, Mural Arts Philadelphia, and the Office of Immigrant Affairs, we are pleased to invite you to the opening launch event for The Philadelphians, a public art project created by Philadelphia-based artist duo Nadia Hironaka and Matthew Suib, celebrating the city’s vibrant immigrant communities.
The project’s centerpiece, a large-scale video projection, will wrap 360º around Love Park’s Visitor Center and will be on view from May 7 – June 8, 2025, with the projection beginning at 5 PM and ending at midnight daily. The Philadelphians is the second annual project from FAI and Mural Arts Public Works program, a residency program embedding artists within Philadelphia’s civic agencies.
This will be a lively evening with food, performances, and reflections. Musical guests include Panama-born and Philadelphia-based musician Daniel Villarreal, the Voloshky Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, and DJ Na$h.
Please note the scheduled rain date of Saturday, May 10, if weather does not permit this outside celebration. And save the date of Friday, June 6th, for a kick-off event celebrating Immigrant Heritage Month and the closing of The Philadelphians. If you should need any language or accessibility accommodations for the event, please reach out to Marcellus Armstrong (Marcellus@formanartsinitiative.org) directly.
We hope you can join us!
