Event Details:Moderator: Nadeen Gayle
Date: Thursday, July 31st
Time: 6:30 PM
Location: Adanne Bookshop, 115 Ralph Avenue, Brooklyn, NY
Event Description:New York is changing.. From Bed-Stuy to the South Bronx, Harlem to Queens, long-time residents are being priced out, displaced, or erased altogether.
Join us for the launch of The People’s Syllabus, a critical community conversation on the realities of gentrification across the five boroughs, with a focus on how it continues to reshape BIPOC communities.
We’ll explore:
- The historical roots of gentrification
- Who benefits—and who’s harmed
- How policy, housing, and development intersect with race and class
- What we can do to resist erasure and protect our neighborhoods
Moderated by: Nadeen Gayle, Syllabus, moderated by Nadeen Gayle, Community Educator and Housing Justice Liaison, who brings deep insight into the structural shifts behind these changes.
Bring your questions, your stories, and your presence. Let’s think critically—and collectively—about how we reclaim and reimagine “home.”
