The New Longevity: Turning the Next Chapter into Your Best Chapter
Overview
Do They Even Need to Read Any More? AI, Literacy, and the Future of Learning
Join The Old Guard of Westchester for a thought-provoking exploration of one of the most urgent questions facing our grandchildren's generation. On January 13th, Dr. Eric D. Abrams from Iona University will tackle the provocative question: When AI can write essays, summarize texts, and mimic human thinking, what happens to reading, writing, and critical thinking?
About This Session:
When artificial intelligence can perform intellectual work with startling facility, what becomes of the fundamental skills that built our careers: reading, writing, and critical thinking? Many of us wonder what the future holds when machines can do what we spent lifetimes mastering.
Dr. Abrams, Senior Director of Clinical Experiences and Clinical Lecturer in the Education Department at Iona University, will explore AI literacy versus traditional literacy, examining how educators can engage students when technology seems to make reading and writing obsolete. This timely presentation addresses concerns that resonate deeply with parents and grandparents watching their children and grandchildren grow up in the age of artificial intelligence.
What to Expect:
- Engaging presentation with Q&A
- Informal conversation over coffee after the program
- Opportunity to connect with other members
