Introduction to Nature Journaling
Join Sonoma Land Trust for an introductory workshop taught by Sarah Reid and learn how to observe nature more deeply by documenting in a nature journal. We will observe using the prompts "I notice, I wonder, It reminds me of" and use numbers, words and pictures to record our observations. You don't need to know how to draw to nature journal! We will teach you simple techniques and fun ways to record nature.
Sarah Reid was inspired to start Nature Journaling during a California Naturalist course in 2017. She has since trained with John Muir Laws and other nature journal instructors and teaches beginning Nature Journalling techniques. Sarah will bring samples and resources to share with participants.
The Nature Around Us: Journaling the Santa Rosa Creek Watershed
Join Sonoma Land Trust for a nature journaling exploration of the Santa Rosa Creek watershed! Take time to slow down, reconnect with nature, grow your observation skills, and develop a sense of place in the Santa Rosa Creek watershed.
Over the course of six outings, we’ll be visiting key waterways on protected lands across the Santa Rosa Creek watershed, from the headwaters to the Laguna, taking time to sit, observe, and document the nature we see. We’ll gain a sense of the nature that connects and flows through Sonoma County’s largest urban area, giving us a chance to see the interrelations of the landscape and natural environment. As we focus on nature journaling, we’ll learn to train our eyes to notice details in the landscape that may have otherwise gone unseen. Join us for the entire series or join us for any one you’d like!
We look forward to this discovery of the amazing waterways that sustain life through our city!
