The Imperial Valley Symphony presents The Music of Shostakovich: A 50th Anniversary Memoriam! Join us at the Jimmie Canon Theater at SHS for a night dedicated to celebrating the incredible works of Dmitri Shostakovich.  Join us for an unforgettable evening honoring the profound legacy of Dmitri Shostakovich, one of the 20th century’s most powerful and courageous voices in music. Works include his famous Festive Overture, the Cello Concerto No. 1 performed by cellist, Peter Ko, the Piano Concerto No. 2 performed by our director, Matthew Busse, and will conclude with the Finale of his iconic 5th Symphony.

Through symphonic power and intimate lyricism, this program reflects Shostakovich’s resilience in the face of oppression and his enduring gift to the world — music that speaks truth to the human spirit.
