The Mourning Space is an online, anonymous drop-in for anyone struggling to sit with their sadness and grief. It offers a 30-minute guided experience that helps you pause, turn inward, and gently be with your emotions in a safe and supportive way.
Many people find it difficult to face sadness alone. They may avoid it, numb it, or talk it out until others feel exhausted — yet the sadness remains. The Mourning Space provides something different: a quiet, held environment where you are guided to observe yourself without judgment or distraction.
This is not therapy. There are no group chats, no sharing circles, and no pressure to speak. Instead, the structure is simple and intentional:
- Welcome & Introduction – an invitation to arrive as you are.
- Explanation of the Space – clarity about what The Mourning Space is, and what it is not.
- Guided Time – prompts to help you be with, move in or move through your feelings.
- Emotional Skills Moment – tools for building emotional understanding.
- Closing Ritual – a gentle ending that signals safety and completion.
The Mourning Space is for anyone who:
- Struggles to be with their feelings alone.
- Finds themselves avoiding or suppressing sadness.
- Wants to increase their emotional awareness in a structured, safe environment.
Each session is only 30 minutes, making it approachable yet meaningful. While The Mourning Space does not replace therapy or counselling, it can complement other supports by helping you strengthen your capacity to feel and release sadness.
