The Mind of a Magician: Part #3
Event Information
Description
The Mind of a Magician is a year-long series of shows from magician Evan Northrup.
Each month, this interactive show will be a completely different production. There will be works in progress, never before seen magic effects, and the musings of a magician, all compiled into a unique, one-night show. Over the last 20 years, Evan has maintained mountains of notebooks filled with conceptual work for new magical experiences that will now be brought to life.
This will be the third show in the 12-month series. There will be two show times (an earlier show at 7:30 and a later show at 9:30). Doors open fifteen minutes before showtime, and make sure you arrive with enough time to get situated and see what mysteries pop up before the show officially begins!
FAQs
So what exactly is this show?
At its core, this is a magic show. Other than that, I can't provide much more information for two reasons: 1) Magic is all about mystery, and 2) Every show will be unique; with themes and tricks changing entirely from month to month; The first month was created entirely around games we play, the second around stories we all know, but this month will remain a secret for now. Not only will each show be driven by the audience and your participation, but each month, the audience will have opportunities to help design the show for future months. If you're looking for hints about the upcoming show's theme, check out the links to social media below!
Ok, I hear what you're saying, but is this show for me?
Allow me to answer your question with a series of questions: Do you enjoy seeing things you've never seen before? How about things that no one has ever seen before? Does the idea that the magician could mess up at any moment delight you?
If you answered "Yes" to any of the above questions, then this is probably for you! No one will be forced to participate (though the audience is small, so you might get asked if you're interested), and anyone who chooses to help out will be a part of creating something impossible!
Cool. Cool cool cool, but is this going to be weird?
I do magic tricks for a living - so that's pretty weird already... But this show will be intriguing, fun, and (hopefully) surprising.
Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Everyone is welcome!! With that in mind, if I had to put an age suggestion on the show, 13 and up might be a good benchmark because the material will be designed for adults. Young people have come to my shows before and seem to enjoy themselves, but this is certainly not "children's magic."
OK! I this this could be a fun night out! What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the space?
There's lots of 2-hour street parking available right near the venue if you're driving. Otherwise, rideshares are a great option, the Sullivan Square (Orange Line - check current listings for closures!) and Lechemere (Green Line) T stops are both about 1 mile away, and several bus lines get very close to the venue. Those wishing to tunnel in a la Shawshank Redemption should start now (You can purchase your small rock pick Here)
Can I ask another question?
Ha! You just did! But seriously, folks, your magnanimous, engaging, beautiful, miraculous host - Evan Northrup - will be happy to answer any and all questions, and he can be reached by emailing Magic@EvanNorthrup.com.
What's the refund policy?
If you change your mind or can't make it, just let us know at least 1 week ahead of time. The seating is very limited for these shows, so a week of notice for any refunds lets us fill those seats so none go to waste. Thank you!!
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
You don't have to do anything you don't want to do. If you feel more comfortable bringing a printed ticket along, go for it! Otherwise, make sure you bring your name with you. That will be helpful.
IAQs (Infrequently Asked Questions)
What sort of music do you like?
From finger-picked percussive guitar to traditional Irish ditties, you can always find me listening to different styles of music to help round out my magical performances!
What's the secret to homemade tortillas?
Apart from good quality masa? Making sure you've got a hot and cold side of your griddle so that you get that nice puff as it cooks through! Yum.
