The Making of Fairyland: Guided Tour and Live Puppet Show
Overview
For the first time ever, Fairyland opens its gates for a guided stroll for adults (with older kids welcomed) to reveal the legends, lore, creativity, history, and treasured tales held within Fairyland’s 75 storied years.
Each tour includes a live puppet show at the Storybook Puppet Theater, the nation’s oldest continuously running puppet theater.
Walking Tour Description
3:30 p.m. You’ll gather at the Fairy Gates of the country’s very first storybook themed amusement park and walk into a dazzling display of twinkling lights as Fairyland’s guided tours make their debut during the park’s signature December holiday event, Fairy Winterland.
4 p.m. You’ll be escorted to your reserved seat for a showing of “King Midas and the Golden Touch.”
4:15 p.m. - 5 p.m. You’ll embark on a magical journey through 75 years of imagination, innovation, and Oakland pride. Explore the history of the founding of Fairyland, how the park has endured for generations, the pivotal role the park played in forever shaping family entertainment, and the ways Fairyland has influenced Bay Area and Oakland culture. You’ll learn how community, creativity, and public spaces keep Fairyland alive. You’ll learn about what it takes to design, build, and care for a living storybook park. Walk away with mind-melting “aha!” moments of connection, revelations, and juicy tidbits of Fairyland history, mapping out the impact and influence of the park from its Oakland roots to all over the planet.
