About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours
  • UNDER 18 WITH PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN

Imagine a table as long as a city block, where you are surrounded by friends and neighbors -- some you know, others you don't know... yet. Everyone is enjoying their picnic supper and each other's company, celebrating our neighborhood and city.

Inspired by the famous Parisian Table d’Aude – and the hugely successful annual Longest Table in NYC – this free event hosted by the SoDo NRZ will bring neighbors together for a BYO-picnic at a block-long communal table. Join us for a connected and engaged Hartford moment!

What do I need to bring?

Pack a picnic supper! Bring whatever you would like to eat and drink. Make it at home or grab some takeout. Put together a group of friends and plan a menu together. Decorate with flowers or a colorful tablecloth. Don't forget plates, cups, and utensils. We will have tables & chairs.

Where should I park?

Whitman Court will be closed to traffic. If you are driving instead of walking, taking a bus, or riding a scooter or bicycle, there is free street parking on weekends on Capitol Avenue. You could also park in the state lots on Capitol Avenue or the paid lot on Hudson Street near Pulaski Circle.

Why are you asking for my cell number?

We will only use your cell number to contact you if there is an issue on the day of the event and we need to cancel or inform you of an alternate location. We will not share your number or use it for any other purpose.

Why are you asking for my city/neighborhood?

Everyone is welcome! Info like this helps us better understand who we're reaching and who is interested in engaging with our neighborhood.

Are kids welcome?

The Longest Table Hartford is for neighbors of all ages. We encourage you to bring your kids!

Can I come alone?

Yes! All are welcome to grab a seat at the table. Coming alone is a fantastic way to meet neighbors and new friends.

What is a table captain?

Can I volunteer to help?

Yes! Specifically, we need Table Captains, Set Up and Break Down teams, Entry Welcomers, and more! Teens are welcome to join us as volunteers. As a community-based event, volunteers at The Longest Table may be eligible for community service credits. To learn more, contact sodonrz@gmail.com.

Can I grill on site?

Please bring all food ready-to-eat. There will be no cooking or grilling facilities on site.
