An evening dedicated to the process behind the sound 🎶

The Listening Party is a community-rooted showcase spotlighting music producers across genres, backgrounds, and lived experiences. Created by Toronto-based producer and Women in Music Canada's 2024 Entrepreneur of the Year, Lisa Patterson, the series was born out of the transformative power of communal listening. It was built to carve out space for underrepresented communities in music and to connect creators with audiences in a way that feels human, honest, and alive.

Producers, often tucked away in studio spaces and working behind the scenes, are invited to share more than just their tracks. They bring the stories that shaped the sound. The rare thrill of a real-time response from a live audience, be it focused presence, head nods, or full-on hip shaking, creates a powerful moment of exchange between artist and listener. It is a collective peek behind the curtain, and an invitation to experience music in a deeper way.

The night features a curated playlist of tracks carefully selected through a committee review process, bringing together a lineup of both established and emerging producers. Each will be invited to share a reflection on their creative process or a personal insight that shaped the track, opening the floor to dialogue, vulnerability, and shared discovery.

Between sets and following the showcase, the room is abuzz with stories of inspiration, challenge, discovery, and the forging of new connections.
