The Lily of the Valley: Choral settings of the Song of Solomon
Overview
The Song of Solomon is an exquisite patchwork love poem—and a Biblical anomaly. Unsurprisingly, its stirring and often-sensual poetry has captivated composers for centuries. The New York Chamber Choir presents an array of choral settings of this puzzling and beautiful book of the Bible, spanning 600 years of musical history. The pieces themselves may vary in texture and style, but at their core, these works—and the Song itself—are meditations on love, and we are thrilled to share them with you.
