THE Jollof Party
Overview
Join us for Tierra and Her Egungun (THE) Jollof Party, a cultural fundraiser in support of the upcoming short film Tierra and Her Egungun.
Tierra and Her Egungun is a cinematic exploration of the intimate ways we stay connected to our roots. It follows a young Tulsan woman on a journey to reclaim her Nigerian ancestry.
Hosted at Heritage Afro Tropical Market & Restaurant, one of Tulsa’s true hidden gems, this event will bring together community members, supporters, and foodies for an unforgettable evening. Guests will enjoy authentic dishes, including the star of the night, jollof rice, alongside music, culture, and conversation.
THE Jollof Party is not just a celebration of food and community, it’s an opportunity to directly support a film that centers African diasporic identity, storytelling, and legacy. Come eat, connect, and be part of bringing this story to life.

From the director, Khadijat A. Oluwatoyin:
As a first generation American, Tierra and Her Egungun is not only my way of honoring my ancestors who guided me back to Yoruba practices and traditions I was unfamiliar with, it’s also an open invitation to people in the diaspora and to those who can relate with the film to reconnect with their own ancestors and heritage. You may watch my older films here: https://www.khadijatoluwatoyin.com/.
