Event description

Description

The Investigation: a dramatic reading of Peter Weiss’ play, followed by a community discussion

Theater of War Productions and the Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, in partnership with the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene, will present readings of scenes from Peter Weiss' play The Investigation, a piece of documentary theater adapted from the Frankfurt Auschwitz Trials of 1963-1965. Premiering in November, the project will center on guided discussions about mass murder and its lasting impact upon individuals, families, communities, and countries throughout the world. Performed by a diverse cast, including international performers from communities affected by genocide, The Investigation will seek to generate powerful dialogue across cultures and communities about the human capacity for evil, as well as the systems and hierarchies that create the conditions for unthinkable violence.

DIRECTED BY BRYAN DOERRIES

THE INVESTIGATION IS MADE POSSIBLE BY THE GENEROUS SUPPORT OF BRUCE RATNER.

Admission is free. Seating is limited.

This presentation will feature the actors: Linda Powell, Amy Ryan, Zach Grenier, David Patrick Kelly, Marjolaine Goldsmith, Consolee Nishimwe, Jacqueline Murekatete, Glenn Davis, Chris Coffey, Alex Grubbs, Brian F. O'Byrne, Jumaane Williams, David Zayas, and Bryan Doerries.

Performances will take place from 7pm to 9pm on November 13 and 14, 2019 at St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church in Brooklyn (157 Montague Street), and on January 16, 2020 at The Museum of Jewish Heritage.
