About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Fundamental to the principles of archives is research and public access to historical records collections. But what does this look like? This advanced level workshop will take a look at basic access tools such as finding aids and research guides, focusing on how to describe and publicize collections to facilitate public use. We will explore some of the differences between the archival and museum disciplines on how and why to provide access to collections, and discuss what access looks like when a collection is not fully digitized.

Familiarity with archives fundamentals and best practice is a prerequisite for this class. Use this tool to assess your knowledge before determining whether or not to register: https://forms.gle/o6gSrDB15juicMcz5

This training will be held virtually and facilitated by Alan Barnett, Local Government Archivist at the Utah State Archives.
