About the speaker:
Kimi Onoda was elected to the House of Councillors of the National Diet of Japan in 2016, representing Okayama Prefecture. She is a Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Justice and a member of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). Ms. Onoda is a member of both the Committee on Rules and Administration and the Research Committee on International Economy and Foreign Affairs of the House of Councillors. She is also deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Division of the LDP. Prior to her election to the House of Councillors, Ms. Onoda was elected to the Tokyo Kita City Council for two terms starting in 2011. She was born in Illinois, United States of America, to a Japanese mother and an American father and raised in Okayama, Japan. She received her BA from the Department of Political Science at the Faculty of Political Science and Economics of Takushoku University.

CJEB is a research organization widely recognized for its international symposia, conferences, and lectures held both in New York City and Tokyo, which provide prominent speakers from the public and private sectors a forum for collaboration and reflection on Japan, the United States, and the global economy.
